the College&#8217;s security policy statement and crime statistics, as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the Clery Act), a federal law requiring institutions of higher education to collect and release this information. Incoming students are advised to read through this information, located in section III of the Catalog. <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.rmcad.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">View Catalog<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>ANTI-HAZING POLICY<br \/><\/strong><\/p><p>Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) does not tolerate acts of hazing in any form. If a member of the College community is aware of a hazing incident or is concerned that what is being asked of them could be hazing, please make a report through <a href=\"https:\/\/resolve.rmcad.edu\/hc\/en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RMCAD Resolve.<\/a>\u00a0Employees may make a report by contacting the Human Resources department.<\/p><p>Actions which amount to hazing are prohibited. Hazing is any action or situation that recklessly, by design, or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a RMCAD community member for any purpose including, but not limited to, initiation or admission into or affiliation with any group or organization.<\/p><p><strong>Definition of Hazing<\/strong><br \/>Hazing means any action or situation that recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a RMCAD community member for purposes including, but not limited to, initiation or admission into or affiliation with any organization operating under the sanction of RMCAD. \u201cHazing\u201d includes, but is not limited to, pressuring or coercing the person into violating state or federal law, any brutality of a physical nature, such as whipping, beating, branding, exposure to the elements, forced consumption of any food, liquor, drug, or other substance, or other forced physical activity that could adversely affect the physical health or safety of the person, and also includes any activity that would subject the person to extreme mental stress, such as sleep deprivation, forced exclusion from social contact, forced conduct that could result in extreme embarrassment, or other forced activity that could adversely affect the mental health or dignity of the individual. Hazing does not include customary athletic events or other similar contests or competitions or any activity or conduct that furthers a legal and legitimate objective.<\/p><p><strong>Hazing occurs if an individual or group:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Causes or attempts to cause physical injury or harm to a person including but not limited to emotional distress, or engages in any conduct which presents a threat to the person\u2019s health or safety, which shall include but not be limited to any brutality of a physical nature, such as whipping, beating, branding, exposure to the elements, forced consumption of any food, alcohol, drug, or other substance, or other forced physical activity that would subject the individual to extreme mental stress, such as sleep deprivation, forced sexual conduct, and forced exclusion from social contact.<\/li><li>Engages in an action or activity which has a tendency to or which is intended to demean, disgrace, humiliate, or degrade a person, which shall include but not be limited to, forced conduct that could result in extreme embarrassment, or other forced activity that could adversely affect the mental health or dignity of the individual.<\/li><li>Conduct that by design, intent or recklessness causes a person to be unable to reasonably pursue, or interferes with or attempts to interfere with a person\u2019s academic schedule or performance.<\/li><li>Causes, induces, pressures, coerces, or requires a person to violate the law or to violate any institutional policy.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>In response to allegations of hazing under this regulation, it is not a defense that:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>The victim gave consent to the conduct.<\/li><li>The conduct was not part of an official organizational event or sanctioned or approved by the organization.<\/li><li>The conduct was not done as a condition of membership in the organization.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>Reporting Hazing Incidents<br \/><\/strong>Any person having knowledge of any activity or statement which may constitute hazing should make a report through <a href=\"https:\/\/resolve.rmcad.edu\/hc\/en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RMCAD Resolve<\/a>. Employees may make a report by contacting the Human Resources department. The appropriate College office will take steps to investigate and enforce the prohibition of hazing. Penalties for violating the Anti-Hazing policy shall be administered by the appropriate department.<\/p><p><strong>Sanctions for Violation of the Anti-Hazing Policy<br \/><\/strong><\/p><p>Where there is a finding of responsibility for violation of this policy, and depending on the facts and severity of the violation, RMCAD could impose a variety of sanctions including, but not limited to the following:<\/p><ul><li>Oral or written warning (Employees and Students)<\/li><li>Oral or written reprimand (Employees and Students)<\/li><li>Counseling (Employees and Students)<\/li><li>Probation (Employees and Students)<\/li><li>Suspension (Employees and Students)<\/li><li>Expulsion (Students)<\/li><li>Termination of Employment (Employees)<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>Hazing Prevention and Education<\/strong><\/p><p>In an effort to prevent hazing, RMCAD takes proactive steps to educate and enforce institutional policies. RMCAD\u2019s prevention strategies include:<\/p><ul><li>Education and Awareness\u2014Taking steps to educate the College community to ensure students and staff are aware of anti-hazing laws and policies.<\/li><li>Enforcement of Institutional Policies\u2014Holding all institutional community members and student organizations accountable and enforcing a zero-tolerance approach to hazing.<\/li><li>Oversight of Student Organizations\u2014Overseeing activities of student organizations to identify and prevent potential hazing.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-bd4664c elementor-section-full_width elementor-section-height-default
